How Much Does A Website Cost In Bangalore?

How Much Does A Website Cost In Bangalore?

Ask three website development companies in Bangalore to quote the same project and you will get three numbers that look like they are for three different jobs. Rs 18,000. Rs 75,000. Rs 2,40,000.

None of them is necessarily lying. They are quoting different things, and almost nobody spells out which parts they left out. The gap between the cheap quote and the expensive one is rarely craftsmanship. It is scope, ownership, and who ends up doing the work you assumed was included.

This is what a website actually costs in this city, what sits inside each range, and the questions that make two quotes comparable before you sign anything.

How much does a website cost in Bangalore?

A landing page in Bangalore starts around Rs 15,000. Most business websites land between Rs 40,000 and Rs 1,50,000. An ecommerce store on Shopify or WooCommerce starts around Rs 45,000, and a fully custom platform runs Rs 3,50,000 and up. Freelancers in the city typically quote Rs 15,000 to Rs 60,000 for a small site. Scope, not location, is what moves a project inside these ranges.

Bangalore does not have its own pricing logic. The same ranges hold across India, which we break down in detail in our guide to how much a website costs. What Bangalore has is an unusually crowded supply side: a very large number of freelancers, small studios, and agencies competing in the same city, which pushes the bottom of the market lower than you would see elsewhere and makes the spread on any given project wider.

Here is roughly what each band buys you.

BudgetWhat it typically coversWho it suits
Rs 15,000 to Rs 40,000One to five pages, a template or lightly customised theme, your copy, basic contact form, mobile responsiveA single-service business, a new venture testing demand, a campaign landing page
Rs 40,000 to Rs 1,50,000Eight to twenty pages, custom design, copywriting, SEO foundations, schema, analytics, lead forms, blog setupMost established local businesses, professional services, B2B companies
Rs 1,50,000 to Rs 3,50,000Bespoke design system, heavier content work, integrations with CRM or booking systems, multi-location or multi-languageMulti-branch businesses, companies where the site is the primary sales channel
Rs 3,50,000 and upCustom-built platform, application logic, user accounts, dashboards, ongoing developmentProduct companies, marketplaces, anything off-the-shelf software cannot do

A note on tax, because it is where a surprising number of Bangalore quotes get slippery. GST applies to web development work for Indian clients. A quote that does not name it is not a cheaper quote, it is an incomplete one, and you will meet the difference on the invoice. Ask for the number with tax stated on the quote itself.

Why do website quotes in Bangalore vary so much?

Quotes vary because providers scope differently, not because they value their time differently. The four things most often missing from a low quote are content writing, SEO setup, revision rounds, and ownership of the accounts. Each one is real work that gets transferred to you or billed later.

When a quote comes in at a third of the others, something has been removed. Usually one of these.

Content. The single most common exclusion. A Rs 20,000 quote almost always assumes you are supplying finished copy for every page. That sounds manageable until you are writing your own About page at 11pm the night before launch, three weeks after the build was ready. Copywriting for a ten-page site is genuine work. Either it is in the quote or it is on your calendar.

SEO foundations. Title tags, meta descriptions, heading structure, schema markup, an XML sitemap, Search Console setup, and page speed as a requirement rather than an accident. A site can look finished and be invisible to Google. If you do not know what this involves, schema markup is the piece most often skipped entirely.

Revisions. “Unlimited revisions” in a proposal usually means unlimited within one round, or it means the provider has priced pain into the number. Two named rounds with a clear rate after that is more honest and normally cheaper.

Ownership. This is the one that costs the most later. If the provider registers your domain in their name, holds the hosting account, or keeps the code, you are renting your own website. Every future change goes through them at whatever rate they decide. Confirm in writing that the domain, hosting, code, analytics and Search Console are all in your name at the end.

Maintenance. A website is not a one-time purchase. Hosting, the domain, SSL, plugin or framework updates, and backups continue after launch. Some providers fold a year of this in and some do not. Ask which.

What should a website development company in Bangalore actually deliver?

A complete engagement covers discovery, information architecture, design, development, content, SEO setup, testing, launch and a monitoring window after go-live. Design is usually the smallest part of it. If a proposal names only design and development, it is a front-end quote and the rest will land on you.

The useful test is whether you can see all of these named somewhere in the document you are being asked to approve:

  • Discovery. What the site is for, who buys from you, and what a good outcome looks like in enquiries rather than adjectives. If nobody asks how you currently get customers, that is a warning sign.
  • Structure. Which pages exist, what each one is for, and how someone gets from landing to contacting you. Most underperforming sites are not ugly, they are sprawling.
  • Design. Layout, typography, imagery, and the mobile experience treated as primary. In India the majority of your visitors will arrive on a phone, so a design that was drawn desktop-first and squeezed down later will cost you enquiries.
  • Development. Built on a stack you can maintain, with load speed as a stated requirement.
  • Content. Written for the structure, not retrofitted into it.
  • SEO setup. Covered above.
  • Launch and aftercare. Testing, going live, then watching Search Console and analytics for the first six to eight weeks so problems get caught while they are still small.

If you are replacing an existing site rather than starting fresh, the risk profile changes completely and the migration becomes the most important line item. Website redesign services covers what that work involves, and website redesign cost has the ranges.

How long does it take to build a website in Bangalore?

A small brochure site takes two to four weeks. Most business websites take six to twelve weeks from kickoff to launch. Ecommerce and custom platforms run three to six months. The build is rarely the bottleneck. Waiting on content and decisions is.

Timelines slip for reasons that have nothing to do with development capacity. They slip because copy is still being written, because product photos were never shot, because a pricing decision needs three people to agree, or because feedback arrives eleven days late and changes the homepage direction.

The most useful thing you can do to keep a project on schedule is decide who on your side has final sign-off, and make sure it is one person. We go deeper into the stages in how long it takes to build a website.

Should you hire a freelancer or a website development company?

Hire a freelancer when the scope is small, well defined, and you can supply the content yourself. Hire a company when the site needs design, copy, SEO and development to work together, or when you need someone to still exist in eighteen months. The real difference is continuity, not capability.

Bangalore has genuinely excellent freelance developers and designers, and for a five-page site with copy you have already written, a freelancer is frequently the right and cheaper answer. Be honest about the tradeoffs rather than the price.

A freelancer is usually one skill. A developer who builds beautifully may not write, and a designer who designs beautifully may not know what a 301 redirect is for. On a small site that is fine. On a site that needs to rank and convert, the gaps show.

Continuity is the other consideration. Freelancers take full-time jobs, move cities, and get busy. If your site breaks in fourteen months, the question is whether anyone answers. Ask any provider, freelance or agency, what happens when something breaks after launch and what that costs.

The inverse warning applies to agencies. A large number of Bangalore agencies do not do the work themselves. They win the project and subcontract it, which means you are paying an agency margin for freelance delivery, with an account manager in between who cannot answer a technical question without checking. Ask directly whether the people in the meeting are the people building it.

How do you choose a website development company in Bangalore?

Choose on process and evidence rather than portfolio screenshots. Ask what happened to enquiries on a site they built a year ago, who writes the content, what you own at the end, and what happens in the eight weeks after launch. Portfolios show launch day, not business results.

Five questions that separate providers quickly:

  1. “Show me something you built over a year ago and tell me what it did for that business.” Anyone serious has at least one answer with a number in it. An honest answer that includes a dip and a recovery is a good sign, not a bad one.
  2. “Who writes the content?” If the answer is you, that is not wrong, but it needs to be priced and planned, not discovered in week six.
  3. “What do I own at the end?” Domain, hosting, code, analytics, Search Console. All in your name. No exceptions worth accepting.
  4. “Is this quote inclusive of GST?” A straight answer here tells you a lot about how the rest of the engagement will go.
  5. “What happens in the two months after launch?” If nobody is watching Search Console, you are the monitoring plan.

One more, specific to this city: ask whether you can meet them. Bangalore is large enough that “local” can mean an hour and a half each way in traffic, and remote delivery over call and WhatsApp is genuinely how most projects here run now. But a provider who will not meet at all, has no verifiable registered address, and communicates only through a sales contact is a provider you cannot escalate to.

Is an expensive website worth it for a local business?

A higher budget is worth it only when it buys things that generate enquiries: better structure, better copy, faster load times, and proper SEO foundations. It is not worth it when it buys visual sophistication on a site that already converts. The question is never how the site looks, it is whether people contact you after landing on it.

The most expensive website is the one that gets traffic and produces nothing. It happens constantly, and it is almost never a design problem. It is usually an unclear offer, no obvious next step, slow load times on mobile, or traffic arriving on the wrong intent entirely. Before commissioning anything, why your website gets traffic but no leads is worth reading, because it occasionally turns out you do not need a new site at all.

If you are selling online rather than generating enquiries, the economics are different again and the platform decision dominates the budget. How much an ecommerce website costs covers that properly.

The bottom line

Website pricing in Bangalore is wide because scope is wide, not because quality is. A landing page around Rs 15,000 and a business site between Rs 40,000 and Rs 1,50,000 are the honest ranges for most companies in this city.

Before you compare two numbers, make them comparable. Confirm what content you are writing, whether SEO setup is a named line item, how many revision rounds are included, whether GST is inside the figure, and whose name the domain sits in. Two quotes that look sixty percent apart are frequently the same quote with different parts deleted.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a basic website cost in Bangalore?

A basic one to five page website in Bangalore costs around Rs 15,000 to Rs 40,000. That typically covers a template or lightly customised design, mobile responsiveness and a contact form, with the copy supplied by you. Custom design and written content push it into the next band.

Is GST included in website development quotes in Bangalore?

Not always, and this is a common source of disputes. GST applies to web development services for Indian clients. Ask for the tax to be stated on the quote itself rather than added at invoicing, so you are comparing quotes on the same basis.

What is the difference between a freelancer and an agency in Bangalore?

A freelancer is usually one skill set at a lower cost and suits small, well defined projects where you supply the content. A company brings design, copywriting, SEO and development together and is more likely to still be reachable a year later. Many Bangalore agencies subcontract to freelancers, so ask whether the people you meet are the people building the site.

Do I own my website and domain after it is built?

You should own all of it: the domain registration, the hosting account, the code, the analytics property and the Search Console property, all in your own name. If a provider holds any of these, every future change goes through them on their terms. Confirm ownership in writing before work starts.

How much does website maintenance cost per year in Bangalore?

Ongoing costs cover hosting, the domain renewal, SSL, framework or plugin updates and backups. For a standard business site this is a modest annual figure, but it varies with the platform and whether you want content updates included. Ask whether the first year is inside the build quote or billed separately.

Can a Bangalore business get a website built remotely?

Yes, and most projects now run that way. Scoping calls, reviews and approvals happen over call and WhatsApp, which is faster than scheduling in-person meetings across the city. Meeting in person is still useful for the first conversation if that is how you prefer to work.
